Steves 30th

Image
Tags: Steves 30th , Joungleurs , gun warf Last night when down town to gunwarf for Steve's 30th. Excelent night well topped off by me getting thrown out (quite literally) just because Queen "Dont Stop me now" came on and in a Malia flash back moment. I stood on my stool! Bouncers took issue with this, those stunted fun Nazis. Very Amusing! More picture here

SKY HD due for May Launch!

Image
Tags: Sky + , Sky Plus , Sky HD , High Definition " HDTVUK - blogging in high def Sky has announced a May launch for its HD service. Its rather rather annoying HD website not only has the details of pricing but also says that installations for the service will begin in May. It seems very unlikely that Sky would begin installations without having launched the service. It seems quite possible too that the announcement has been sparked by the BBC which yesterday confirmed that it would offer a trial HD transmission of the World Cup, Wimbledon and much else via both satellite and cable. Sky has also announced the prices for the service. If you are an existing subscriber youll pay 299 for the HD box and 10 a month on top of your existing subscription. Viewers get installation and a Sky+ subscription if they havent already got one free. Theres no mention of viewers getting any upgrade benefits to swap current SD boxes for HD ones. Theres also no mention of the size of the hard drive...

However i did spend entire minutes cropping this pic, of the lovely pair, their sooo cute! So another stag weekend w00t!

Xbox 360 Hacked Update

Tags: Team Xecuter , Xbox 360 , DVD hack , DVD firmware Team Xecuter , have picked up on the work The Specialist has done ( but is not releasing ) on the DVD firmware hack. They them selves when they get the new firmware developed will be releasing it to the public. w00t Article here

Xbox 360 Hacked

Image
Tags: Xbox 360 , xbox 360 hacked , xbox 360 mod From palgn.com.au "Microsoft might have claimed its Xbox 360 was unhackable, but, four months removed from the American launch, a hacking team led by 'The Specialist' has managed to get a pirate copy of Project Gotham Racing 3 running on a hacked machine. To achieve this, the 360 DVD drive had to have the firmware modified (by inserting a modded 360 game, among other things), allowing pirate discs to run as the drive no longer looks for a special code that can only be found on legal discs. However, 'The Specialist' and his band of merry men won't be distributing their firmware modifications, as they don't support piracy - only legitimate homebrew (which this does not provide), and the challenge of hacking itself. Hmm. Still, now the secret is out, you can bet on people with slightly more dubious morals replicating the process unfortunately. It's worth noting though that this method does NOT bypass region...

Red Orchestra Review

Image
Tags: Red Orchestra , UT2004 Total Conversion , Steam ,? Red Orchestra Review Been playing Red Orchestra this weekend, which is a UT2004 total conversion, you can get it through steam which is cool. The is you classic FPS set in world war II like DOD where it differs slightly from DOD is you can jump in to tanks and APC and stuff, which is sort of fun.? The best bit is the fact the maps are HUGE!! and you can dissapear off in to a bush and shoot the crap out of the other side, smug in the knowledge they have no clue where you are. Down sides are the graphics arn't up to scratch but then it is using the Unreal Engine and thats probably due an overhaul with UT2006.? Very playable indeedy though havn't played counter strike since it uploaded which is a good sign.? Another good or bad point (depending on your point of view) is there is no help in game to identify the enemy other than their uniform or the markings on their vehicle.?? I like this and it will force you to follow a...

VOIPing it up! SIP phone in the place one time!

Image
Tags: VIOP , Bluetalk , Grandstream , SIP phone , doohickey This morning I received me grandstream Handy Tone 486 which is a new doohickey that allows you connect a normal POTS (get me with me acronyms) phone to a SIP VOIP provider. Translation : Allows you to connect normal telephones to an electric internet type magic phone thingy . In theory this should allow me to have much cheaper phone calls, especailly international calls (I never make international calls). Any way the grandstream came with a voucher for a bluetalk account. Bluetalk are a SIP VIOP service provider, and give you the ability to call normal 80's David Hasselhoff/ Pop up head lights type phone lines. They also provide you with your incoming phone number so if you have invested in some freinds, they can ring you from there bog standard non futuristic phone. Bluetalk score highly here as they provide the ability to have localised incoming numbers (i.e. I was able to choose an 02392 Portsmouth number) this ...

Mini Update

Image
Tags: BMW Mini , Poor BMW Service , Snows BMW So the mini has a brand new gear box, and now the knocking noise that we once had has magically dissapeared. That is assuming you have the stereo up really loud. So we go back to snows bmw and they have raised it again with BMW UK. So now we're waiting again for BMW's regional technical Manager as he's currently on holiday ( like the last time we needed him to see the car ). I have also spoken to the a guy at BMW customer services, had a chat with regard to process of rejecting the car, which apprently I have to take up with the guys where we bought the car, they then talk to the BMW Tech Manager. Snows say the regional technical manager will be back from holiday on the 22nd of March. So watch this space.

The latest new tool allows you to create your own webpages which will be located at http://yourgmailusername.googlepages.com obviously thats assuming you have a gmail account ( want one ? i still have loads of invited left ). And they dont as yet appear to be covered in googleads. You can see examples with a simple google of site:googlepages.com Interestingly as pointed out at the bottom of this Google Page any one who finds your googepage will also have you gmail address. Which isn't ideal for spammers.

Tags: Netgear Nas , NAS , Netgear Just purchased a netgear NAS box for all my Network attached storage requirements. Basically meaning I will be able to share my MP3's to my Xbox / laptops / PC's without having to have a server on all the time. apparently the key benefits are * Store your files, music, video, games, photos, and financial records in one central location, accessible as a letter drive * Share files easily with everyone on the network, while keeping your personal files private * Safeguard your valuable files by keeping real time duplicate copies automatically, effortlessly. Advanced backup software is included * Setup and configuration are a breeze with Smart Wizard! Exactly How breezy this will be I will find out later on tonight.
