On Richard & Judy today JK rowling in an interview rather foolishly got tricked into answering this question. When confirming she would not be writing any more than 7 books. She then went on to say that, the way to make sure no other "non-author" books are written after her work is to kill off your main character at the end of the series.

Went to see them (again) last night. Honestly, people don't listen to enough T-Rex, even though it can substantially improve your life. A lot of people say "I don't know anything they did", so you don't know Metal Guru, Jeepster, Telegram Sam, Hot Love, Children of the Revolution, Ride a White Swan, Get it On, I Love to Boogie, New York City, The Groover, Solid Gold Easy Action, or 20th Century Boy. Right. Bolan was totally the man, until the untimely tree/mini incident. Genius.
