VOIP Asterisk

Currently im mainly learning about Asterisk an open source PBX switch, and today took delivery of an FXO card. This will allow me to connect my BT line to asterisk, and use asterisk to manage my answerphone. This is great because :

  • I can have all my voice mail forwarded to my gmail account

  • I can have phone calls during my working hours forwarded

    • Forwarded to my mobile and my googletalk account ( connecting the call to which ever is answered first)



  • It will auto detect autodialed calls to my line and not answer them

  • It will allow me to create overly complex IVR menus ( not sure if this will be useful yet)


This does however mean I really need to start to cat5 flood wire the house.

Went to see them (again) last night. Honestly, people don't listen to enough T-Rex, even though it can substantially improve your life. A lot of people say "I don't know anything they did", so you don't know Metal Guru, Jeepster, Telegram Sam, Hot Love, Children of the Revolution, Ride a White Swan, Get it On, I Love to Boogie, New York City, The Groover, Solid Gold Easy Action, or 20th Century Boy. Right. Bolan was totally the man, until the untimely tree/mini incident. Genius.
