PS3 Not reliable but Sony Customer Service Great
Ok, so my Xbox RRod'd not so long ago and I stuck my finger up to Xbox and turned to my PS3 which, turned up the same day my xbox died ( conincidence ?). Much happy PS3 time later ( COD4 is deffinately better on the xbox mind :( ) anyway my PS3 dies! The laser has gone Kaputt. So i ring Sony theygo through the ususal script with the "techy" call centre person.
Have you used your ps3 to invade any countries? No
Have you worn an approved Sony gloves when handling the PS3? Yes
Then it comes "Well Mr Lloyd im affriad we wont be able to get your replacement PS3 out to you untill........." preganant pause while phone operative waits no doubt for the answer to appear in front of her, Independant thought is out of the question here. "......tomorrow morning, will that be ok?". Seriously less than 24hours to get it replaced, that's amazing.
However it is probably worth pointing out after a little research this Laser dieing on the blueray unit appears to be a very common fault, yet isn't receiveing as much attension as the RRoD's of the xbox. Possibly due to the xbox replacement process being a complete faff and them actually fixing you unit rather than the far better Sony approach of just replacing your with a refurb unit. All hail Sony!
